Qualifications and Memberships

Tony studied Chemistry and Mineralogy as an undergraduate at Christ Church, Oxford graduating as Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in 1968.

He completed his Part II research project in the Department of Geology and Mineralogy (now Earth Science) a year later. This research also earned him the postgraduate (and archaic) Oxford degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in 1970.

He progressed to his Master of Arts (M.A.) in 1972.

He continued his research, first under Prof. Roger Burns (later of MIT) and then under Dr Eric Whittaker, completing his doctoral thesis in 1975 for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.).

Tony continues as a member of the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain, and served on the Society's Committee (Jan 2008-Dec 2010).

Tony became a Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS) in 1984, and subsequently a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Chartered IT Professional (CITP) as the BCS developed its professional memberships.
